The Power of Media and Information, and the Responsibility of the users.

Our main source of information is the media which makes it the most powerful equipment in terms of sharing information with a single click. In fact, media became a necessity. Without media, we will never be updated on the day-to-day events that is happening in our surroundings.  Through media, we can connect to anyone around the world.

The power of media lies in the hands of the users. These users are responsible for the effects of what they do and what they are about to do. Information is powerful but we must not abuse it. Media has two sides, the positive and the negative. It can help us in many aspects of human life on modern times like to create and shape beliefs, strengthen the society, and relay one’s message to those far at reach. However, it also has the capability to destroy us. Cyber bullying is one example of the negative side of media. Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. This includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. If we let them continue to do those negative things, we are only letting them play our lives but if we become vigilant, we can truly avoid or stop those things. Responsibility is a big word but it is one of the things that are inevitable. Every individual plays a role in the society and a responsibility to take. Not everything we read, see, and learn from media is true. A responsible user must learn to analyse the information he/she got. An individual will never be a wise media user if he/she always believes in everything that he/she got from media. “Think before you click” is a very simple but very strong statement. Some people just keeps on posting and posting everything they want for the public to see. Once something is posted on media, the person who posted it can never take it down. So overtime, if that person realizes that the thing he/she posted is something that shouldn’t be posted, he/she can do nothing about it but regret on it. This statement tells us that in everything we do, we should always think. Think if this is for the better or for the worse.

There is one saying that serves as a reminder, “with great power comes great responsibility.” and one of the resposibilities that we have is we should mind the contents that we are posting on social media like the photos we post and the comments we make. We must ensure that they would not offend anyone, that they dont break any rule and that they do not offend anyone.
